Commercial Residential Associations Employment Contact About

Since 1989, Empress Painting has provided painting services to Southern Vancouver Island. Owner, Philip Cameron takes great pride in the reputation for excellent workmanship Empress Painting has built over the past seventeen years and it is this principle of top quality and fair prices has taken him from a small business of half a dozen employees, to a thriving enterprise that is able to keep 30 plus people employed on a full time year-round basis.

Philip has successfully led Empress Painting through the many changes the painting industry has experienced over the past decade and a half. We have grown from a small residential painting company to one of Victoria's largest, most successful and most trusted, full service painting contractors. We offer a wide range of painting services, as well as drywall, sandblasting, caulking and waterproofing and have the personnel and equipment necessary to tackle any job, from a kitchen repaint to a large scale construction project. Empress is one of the few local painting contractors able to offer bid and maintenance bonds.

Empress Painting's reputation as a quality service provider and our emphasis on jobsite safety, has enabled us to attract and keep some of the best and most knowledgeable painters and wall covering applicators in the business. We employ experienced personnel from all aspects of the painting industry, and they have subsequently passed that expertise on to their crews. We encourage our staff to expand their knowledge and skill base through on site, practical experience as well as through formal training. We work closely with suppliers to ensure our staff is up to date on the latest product advances, so we can ensure the best available product is being applied to the job.

Empress Painting has built its business by providing excellent quality and service at competitive rates and standing behind it's work. Because of this, Empress Painting was selected as the painting contractor for the upcoming renovations at the Cridge Centre for the Family as well as consistently earning contracts at the Bay Center and University of Victoria.

The Cridge Centre project, managed by Leier Construction (2004) Ltd., is a seniors' housing project located at 1190 Kings Rd. in Victoria. The existing heritage building is having an interior refit and we will be doing the painting and wall covering in that area as well as preparing and painting the exterior woodwork. A new building is also being erected on the site and we will be doing all the painting associated with that structure. Another upcoming project is The Railyards located on the Gorge waterway. This is a project being managed by Knappett Construction Ltd., for which Empress earned the contract for interior and exterior painting as well as sandblasting and drywall installation.

People may have seen our work on the several projects that we have completed in the last few years. These include the Belfry Theatre, interior and exterior; the distinctive diamonds on the U-Haul building; various retail locations at Mayfair Mall and the Bay Centre; the new addition at the 6-Mile Pub, and one of the most visible building in all of Victoria, the Save On Foods Memorial Arena. You can also check out our workmanship next time you're lounging with a latte at your local Starbucks.

Community involvement is an important facet of the company. This year, Empress sponsored the CIBC Run for the Cure's Great Home Pinkover, which provided a fabulous one-day, mini home makeover for a Cancer survivor. This included a complete exterior repaint of the home and redecoration of the master bedroom. Cancer touches the lives of many, and several of our employees have been moved to fight back. We have had some very successful head shavings in support of Cops for Cancer over the past few years.

Empress also sponsors several community events including curling bonspiels and golf tournaments and each year we collect donations for the Mustard Seed Food Bank. We were proud to be able to offer our services when Habitat for Humanity opened its ReStore here in Victoria.

With seventeen years of experience in the painting industry, Empress Painting has evolved into a large and diverse organization able to provide a wide array of painting, drywall, and related services. We have built our success on making customer service and workmanship a priority, employing highly skilled and motivated crews, and standing proudly behind the work we do.

Isn't it time for a change?
